Hot Chocolate
This recipe is free of the common eight food allergens: Wheat/Gluten, Eggs, Soy, Milk, Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Fish, Shellfish. It is also free of corn, sugar, and alcohol.
Hot chocolate is a great winter tradition. Some traditions come in a package and some are made from scratch. These two recipes will satisfy either.
Ingredients for a Prepackaged Flavor
3 cups rice milk
2 tablespoons agave syrup or to taste
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 tablespoon cocoa butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon arrowroot powder
Ingredients for a Homemade Flavor
3-1/2 cups water
1/4 cup agave syrup or to taste
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 tablespoons cocoa butter
1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon arrowroot powder
dash pink salt
pinch cayenne
Directions
Whisk all ingredients together in a saucepan except for arrowroot powder. Heat over medium-high heat to a rolling boil. Then whisk in arrowroot powder in small amounts to avoid clumping. Then boil for 90 seconds. Turn off heat, cover and let sit 10 minutes to allow thickening and for flavors to blend.
Yields approximately 4 cups
